In March, I stayed at Naoura Barrière. Here is my feedback.
Staying in Morocco for me is a bit like staying at home. We often go to this country that we love. It is a destination close to Paris and the weather is always good. For this special occasion (I was inviting my mother and my daughter), I wanted to discover new places shared only between us. That’s why I decided to try a new hotel. It’s not every day that three generations travel together… I chose Barrière le Naoura.
When we arrived at the airport, a driver was waiting for us with a sign with our family name on it. He immediately took charge of our luggage, and the holiday could begin. In the air-conditioned van, fresh bottles of water to quench our thirst were not to be refused. To my surprise, they had even thought of my daughter Lou’s car seat… I didn’t even tell them in advance.
Barely 15 minutes later, we arrived at the hotel, a bewitching smell of orange blossom was in the air. No doubt we were in Marrakech. We were offered refreshing towels in the same scent, as well as something to quench our thirst. The check in was super-fast. In 10 minutes, it was settled. Always nice after a day of travel with a child. A small gift was given to my daughter: a backpack with coloured pencils, games and a t-shirt in the colours of the Barrière group. It’s a good thing she loves gifts!
We then took possession of the room. Very spacious with sand and beige colours and a double bathroom on one side, shower on the other… No fights with my mum to share the bathroom. A single bed had been added for my daughter (even if the story goes that she won’t set foot in it, hihi). A bowl of fruit was waiting for us along with some Moroccan pastries (the famous gazelle horns) and some dates I couldn’t resist…
Tired from the trip, after a little tour of the hotel, we decided to order dinner via the room service. The choice of the menu was vast. We chose pasta with tomato sauce and a vegetable soup (very good), as well as cheese cigars (which didn’t really have any taste).
After a good night’s sleep, we were refreshed. The quality of the bedding of this hotel is really to be noted. We went down to have breakfast and to our great disappointment all the tables in the sun were taken. But the head waiter, seeing my dismay, simply went and got another table to move it and put it in the sun. Happiness!!! The hotel proposes Moroccan pancakes called Moufleta made under the amazed eyes of my daughter who asked for more…
Despite the still cool season, the hotel’s swimming pool is heated to 28 degrees which is a real plus for young children. To the great delight of my daughter who was even able to make a splash.
The hotel is located two blocks from the Hivernage district with all the restaurants, but also from the epicentre of Marrakech and the famous Jamma El Fna square. The horse-drawn carriages are parked 2 minutes’ walk from the hotel. We took the opportunity to get lost in the maze of the souk and the spice market.
The next day, I was able to enjoy the spa while my daughter had fun at the kids’ club. A suspended moment, one of the best massages of my life between Nadia’s fairy fingers (and God knows that I know what I’m talking about, hahaha)! A Moroccan tea was waiting for me at the exit and I took the opportunity to go for a swim in the spa’s thermal centre (hot and cold-water streams, jets etc.) while my mum had a makeover at the hair salon. A very successful blow-dry by the way.
Meanwhile, Lou had made me a little present with the whole kids’ club team, a pretty crown of fresh flowers picked in the hotel gardens. After 48 hours, everyone already knew my daughter’s name. The kids club team is very welcoming, even if the infrastructure needs to be refreshed.
When it was time to leave, we felt a little bit sad, as we were so happy to be living this stay all three of us. You really feel at home in this hotel. The staff is attentive and friendly. In conclusion, I would say that the hotel offers excellent value for money, which could be even better if some refurbishment work was undertaken. The location is perfect!
Have a great holiday with Little Guest!
