Alexandre, Travel Designer to give you my best adresses

After a 12 (short) hour flight from France, my partner and I still had one last hour of travel ahead of us to reach what was to become one of our favourite places in Mauritius: the ZILWA Attitude!
Ideally situated on the island’s teeming north coast, its location will enable you to reach a number of interesting points of interest such as the church at Cap Malheureux, the botanical garden at Pamplemousse and the small port town of Grand Baie in a very short space of time.
But let’s get back to our arrival at the hotel and the first striking view of its lobby, which, like us, will probably leave you speechless with its large open room where tropical birds enjoy flitting about, the monochrome blue of the Indian Ocean in the background – it’s divine!
Once the administrative formalities had been completed and the adorable staff had offered us a brief refreshment, we were ushered into our sea-view Junior Suite, whose charming decor is designed to remind us that simplicity is king here: waxed concrete floors, furniture made from natural materials, omnipresent light – you instantly feel at home, with the added bonus of coconut palms! The hotel offers a variety of accommodation formats, with 1 or 2 bedrooms, or even connecting rooms, ideal for families!
I’d like to start by taking a look at the gastronomy you’ll find on site: it’s of excellent quality, divided between a buffet restaurant whose themes change daily, an Indian restaurant that knows how to respect European palates while taking you on a journey, let’s not forget the Thai and above all the « Kot nou », a typical Mauritian restaurant where tapas with a local sauce are served in a resolutely authentic atmosphere! Even more authentic is the possibility of dining in the family of members of staff who will open their doors to you – incredible! (on request and prior reservation)
The little extra, the ‘Taba-J’, Zilwa’s version of the tabagies, small takeaway stalls dotted around Mauritius, where simple but delicious meals are served, is something you’ll be able to experience right here at the resort, ideally situated between the several swimming pools and the petanque court.
Rum lovers won’t want to miss out on the hotel’s 2 bars, including the one run by the affable Ruan, just a stone’s throw from the beach, who will serve you with a smile anything to lift your spirits and make your holiday a success!
But what would your children be doing in the meantime? Playing pirate in the life-size Kids-club boat, of course! A real boat at the entrance to the kids’ club, where the entertainers will be doing their utmost to make their days real adventures, with a host of activities on offer every day, free of charge, from the age of 3.
The little extra: the kids-club is open from 9am to 9pm every day and the entertainers can take your children out for lunch and dinner at no extra charge (if you have the All-inclusive package), so you can enjoy lunch or dinner for two or even a relaxing moment at the Poz spa, which offers a wide range of treatments. My Italian companion clearly validated the magical effect of the ‘GranMama’ full-body treatment, coming out of it more zen than ever (and go and zenify an Italian!).
I myself took part in a number of activities, including a Creole lesson, which provided the opportunity for some great laughs, and beach soccer games in front of the sunset with the entertainers and other guests – the atmosphere was really great!
Your stay at Zilwa Attitude was a success, with everything exuding simplicity and joy, a purely Mauritian way of life, where you’ll feel right at home in no time at all, with a twinge of sadness when you leave!
See you soon Zilwa!
