It is on the famous Riviera Maya that we decided to go on holidays. Thanks to Little Guest, we decided to settle down at the also famous Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya.

Ice cream welcome

We had barely arrived that the doorman hurried up to greet us warmly and to park our car. Our luggages followed on the golf cart while we entered the hotel. We were immediately welcomed with ice creams, a sound idea with this heat!

The lobby, nicknamed the Sanctuary, is quite impressive and reminds us of the « cenotes », those natural water caves that you can find in turistic areas. We were also given little glass stones that we must throw to a little pool and make a wish, according to local tradition. And here is the golf cart again, ready to take us to our room, a handful idea since the resort stretches quite far.

After climbing the stairs until second floor, we finally reach our room. It is vast and confortable, with a nice lagoon view. All the toiletries were available but I wish I had a mosquito repellent like in some hotels… At least, water bottles were furnished in the room for a refreshing drink. Mexico is hot!

Dinner is served!

We wanted to try the Milagro restaurant but it was temporarily closed. We decided then to try our luck at the Tinto de Pulpo, a wonderful spot on the beach with amazing food and lovely staff. The ceviches and the artisanal beers while gazing at sunset are really worth the trip! The restaurant is totally kid-friendly with special menus and baby food, as well as high chairs and a reachable buffet.

The restaurants Amate and Sotavento have received many awards and you can feel it in the prices. Some clever guests have confessed that the All Inclusive option was a good pick so they could enjoy the F&B during their holidays.

Next to the Milagro and the lagoon is the kids-club. You can find animators speaking English, French or Spanish to entertain your children. The club is clean, tidy and free! Games of all kind are available and the crew is very resourceful when it comes to delight the kids. The club is remote from the beach area, about 10 minutes with golf cart. The cart goes around the resort every 10 minutes so you never wait for a long time and you can always reach out the concierges for a private pick-up.

The baby-club is right next to the kids-club and has all the expected commodities for the very little ones. Since maximum capacity is 4 children, you must book when you arrive on the first day (15$ for 1 hour, 30$ for 3 hours). A babysitting service is also available.

A long moment of relaxation

As stated in the hotel’s name, there is an incredible wellness area, the Naum Wellness & Spa, boasting a wide range of treatments such as relaxing and tonifying massages. Perfect to soothe your muscles after a day of visit at Maya temples or into nature reserves.

But if you prefer the feeling of warm sand, note that the hotel has its own private beach! It is located 1 km away from the lobby and the majority of rooms on the lagoon side, even if some rooms are in the beach area. You can reach the beach through golf cart or have a nice walk on the sand before jumping into water.

Time to go home

On our last day, we couldn’t help but feel a bit sad due to the incredible experience we had at this hotel. The kindness of the staff is really heartwarming, they really pay attention so that we didn’t need anything and made the extra mile to get us satisfied. The large panel of activities is also impressive, both for adults and children, and the hotel provides many shuttle and transportation means to move around the resort or go on excursion.

If I ever go back to Mexico, it will definitely be at the Andaz Mayakoba!
