A kids-friendly stay at Gennadi

What better way to extend the summer than by booking a weekend in Rhodes in September? After all, enjoying the Greek heat a little longer will make it easier to accept the falling temperatures in Brussels!

With a direct flight from Brussels and a short hour’s drive provided by the hotel, we arrived at night at the Gennadi, where the hotel’s reception team took care of us and directed us to the hotel’s restaurant, as we were starving given the late hour!

We discovered a hotel with a refined and modern decoration, blending into large almost aerial spaces punctuated by water basins.

Our suite had 2 rooms: if it seemed to us immediately perfect for our stay, our impression was confirmed when we woke up the next day and saw the private swimming pool, just in front of our room. All that was left to do was to put on our swimming costumes and enjoy the Greek sun from the very first hours of the day!

The rooms are really perfect for a stay with children, a partition allows to separate the rooms, thus preserving the intimacy of each one, just like the presence of 2 bathrooms! Their comfort and decoration are very pleasant. If I had to put a downside to all this, it would only be the fact that an alley, quite busy at certain times of the day, connecting the main building, passes right in front of the pool dedicated to our room.

For my part, I loved the immensity of the hotel’s pools, surrounded by enough sunbathing areas not to find myself « empty-handed » at the moment when I most wanted to lounge around!

A successful holiday means eating well, you can’t do it over again… The Gennadi has made us happy in this respect. All the restaurants of the hotel offer a varied and very tasty food where Greek gastronomy is highlighted every day and served by a lovely staff.

Children are not left out with high chairs and children’s menus, all in a friendly atmosphere!

As we were only staying at the Gennadi for a weekend, we did not take advantage of the hotel’s activities, which seemed to be numerous and varied for the whole family. We did however relax in the spa which is really nice, and where the scent is conducive to total relaxation! A pure happiness! However, please note that access to the spa is only included in the « all-in » package, as other guests have to pay to enter.

As for the children, they can enjoy a swimming pool just for them as well as a playground! Supervised activities are offered several times a day. However, this is not a real kids’ club where you can leave your child all day, as parents must stay in the hotel as the activities are only occasional! This formula allows you to enjoy with your children and to have a significant amount of freedom during your holidays, which I think is a good mix.

We really enjoyed this weekend, in the off-season, in this hotel where the almost permanent view on the Aegean Sea is a real plus. The rooms, the catering and the services offered by the Gennadi make it possible to enjoy a faultless stay under the Greek sun in a modern setting blending perfectly with the « blue » of the landscape.
